Info | Steven J. Gerritzen, Whig
8th Congressional District
Age 39 – August 12, 1970
Ocala, Florida
Occupation: Assembly Line for a Defense Contractor *
Like the vast majority of all Americans, Steve has never worked in a glamorous position. Steve’s employment history includes busboy to pizza delivery, maintenance to construction, and driving truck to electrical manufacturing. As Steve is quick to tell anyone, “I belong to the working class of American. I’m not special, privileged, or wealthy. At times I’ve struggled to make ends met and have relied upon practical experience and common sense to provide for myself and those dependent upon me. I believe it’s time we truly diversify Congress by electing people who have lived the life of the majority rather than by those who think they understand but haven’t walked in our shoes.”
Education:
High School
Lake Weir High School / Candler, Florida 1988
Central Florida Community College – Electronic Engineering – Attended
New Horizons – MSCE – Attended
Technical School & Community College
Political Views
“I have been nearly a lifetime resident of Florida other than a few years when I lived and worked in Chicago. I have known many good people who understand and appreciate the simple things in life such as having a job, paying their bills, providing for their family, having good health, and have enough left over to supplement Social Security during retirement. While all candidates for office must be viewed as good people, I am the one candidate who is truly from the Working Class. While education is important, and I wish I had had the opportunities that others have, I believe my understanding of real issues facing real people with real experience makes me the one person who needs to be in Congress for the district and the nation as a whole.”
