FAMILY:
Joe has lived in Schuylkill County all his life. He was born and raised in Pottsville and is the oldest of the four children of Joseph and Josephine (Galle) Devine. He has three wonderful children, Jennifer Devine Yourey and her husband Michael, Kelly Devine Pacor and her husband Jonathan and Joseph Michael Patrick Devine. Joe currently reside in the City of Pottsville PA, Schuylkill County.
EDUCATION:
Joe attended Saint Patrick School in Pottsville and graduated from Nativity BVM High School in Pottsville in 1973. He will also graduate from Pennsylvania State University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Administration of Justice. He has maintained a 3.50 GPA and is currently on the Dean’s List. Joe has also recently completed his internship with the Schuylkill County Adult Probation Office/Schuylkill County Court of Common Pleas.
MILITARY:
Joe was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force serving four years on active duty from 1973-1977 as a Communications Specialist attached to the (SAM) Special Air Missions at Andrews AFB in Washington D.C. He also served in the Air National Guard at Fort Indiantown Gap Pa.After a break in service he returned to the United States Navy Reserves, Reading Pa. initially as a Radioman and then as a Postal Clerk. In 2005 he was deployed to Iraq to serve as a US Navy Customs Officer CBCA Customs Border Clearing Agent. He also has completed all correspondence and training courses as an MAA (Master at Arms USN) He returned from Iraq in 2006 and is a retired Petty Officer with 21 years of honorable service.
PROFESSIONAL:
Joe retired this year from the US Postal Service with 33 years of service. He is a lifelong member of the National Association of Letter Carriers and former NALC steward. He is currently the Chairman of the City of Pottsville Zoning Hearing Board. Joe also serves as the Chairman of the Supervisory Board for the CACL, Carriers & Clerks Federal Credit Union in Pottsville. He has been a licensed real estate agent since 1984. He also owns Devine Memories Professional Disc Jockey Service of Pottsville.
ORGANIZATIONS:
He has served in, and currently holds memberships in various organizations including Penn State Veterans Association, Penn State Criminal Justice Club, Pottsville War Veterans Association, American Legion Post 286.Cressona PA, Nativity Green Wave Association, Church of Saint Patrick, Knights of Columbus and Ancient Order of Hibernians JFK Division Pottsville Pa. as well as Saint Clair Fish &Game Club, Saint Clair, Yorkville Hose and Humane Hose of Pottsville and East End Fire Co. Palo Alto Pa.
