InfoRyan was raised in Wilton, Connecticut and graduated from Wilton High School in 1993. He subsequently received his undergraduate degree from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California in 1997 and his law degree from Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles, California in 2000.

After graduating from law school, Ryan returned to Connecticut to assist former Connecticut Congressman Rob Simmons in the upset defeat of a 20-year Democratic incumbent by directing Simmons’ grassroots field campaign. Ryan then joined Simmons in Washington, D.C. as his legislative aide, advising him on a variety of legislative issues, including transportation, immigration and crime.

Ryan served four years in the U.S. Army, including a one-year deployment to Iraq. He left the practice of law in Connecticut several months before the beginning of the Iraq War to join the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps. Because of his deep admiration for the men and women of our Armed Forces, Ryan dedicated four years of his life to serving Soldiers and commanders in a time of war.

After receiving an honorable discharge from the active-duty Army, Ryan again returned to Connecticut, moving to Madison with his wife, a teacher in the Guilford Public School System, and their young daughter.

Ryan, a practicing attorney, participates in a statewide child advocacy program which matches children who are victims of abuse, neglect and abandonment with attorneys, like Ryan, who donate their time to serve as counsel and guardian ad litem for these children. Ryan enjoys his work with this program because it enables him to view firsthand the many social and economic obstacles faced by some children in Connecticut, many of whom live in one of Connecticut’s cities. Ryan is also involved with two local service organizations.

Ryan views his run for State Senate as a natural extension of his community service and his service to our nation.
