Info | Except for his international aid work in Central and South America Frank's entire family, professional and community life has been centered and focussed in Guelph.
Born in 1954 to parents of Italian immigrant roots Frank was educated in Guelph and then graduated with Honours from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor's Degree in Canadian History and Economics. He then received a Law Degree from the University of Ottawa. Called to the Bar in 1981, and is currently a Senior Partner at SmithValeriote Law Firm LLP.
Upon establishing his law practice, the strong influence of family, his passion to serve, his integrity and expert legal skills led him to more than 26 years of significant commitment to Guelph's community.
Frank served for 18 years on the Catholic School Board, the later years as Chair nursing the opening of 4 new schools and developing unprecedented constructive relationships with teachers and the public board.
Frank has also served tirelessly on the Boards of the Alzheimer's Society of Guelph Wellington as well as the Wellington Guelph Housing Authority. He was an active board member of the Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis and co-founder and first chair of the Committee Against Family Violence, where significant strides were made locally in police and court responses to family violence.
Currently, Frank actively serves on the St. Joseph's Health Foundation (since 2001), is Chair of the Guelph Wellington Business Enterprise Center (since 2004), is Chair of the Skyline Apartment Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) and is Chair and an active volunteer of Missionary Ventures Canada, having been on 7 international aid construction trips to Central and South America in the last 8 years.
Frank passionately believes in serving and building bridges between all social, cultural and economic groups and that a prosperous, fairer and greener future for our children and us lies in doing, not just saying, the right thing.
Frank is a life long resident of Guelph and he and his wife Catherine have 2 children, Olivia, 5, and Domenic, 3.
