Info | Ron is well-known for his unwavering commitment and determination to improve the quality of life for people in the Nickel Belt region. A life-long resident of the riding, Ron has worked to enhance the economic, environmental, recreational and social aspects of his community.
He has a passion for making a difference in the lives of others, especially seniors and the youth in the area. Ron has been a municipal councilor with the City of Greater Sudbury for 10 years. He has held the position of Deputy Mayor in 4 consecutive years.
Ron has proven himself an effective leader, delivering real results for his community. During his time on council, he recruited several major retailers to local communities which in over 400 full-time jobs, saved the recreation program in Valley East from being eliminated, and created an interactive program for youth which encouraged them to become involved in their local government and policy decisions. He also helped create the Valley East Sports Hall of Fame to recognize the significant achievements of local heroes.
Prior to his career in politics, Ron was an Inco employee for more than 18 years. He participated in many successful contract talks and negotiations on behalf of his membership. In addition, Ron has been an entrepreneur for many years and held ownership in the Sudbury Wolves and Rayside Sabre Cats in the past.
Ron and his wife Denise have lived in Nickel Belt for over 35 years. They have three children and six grand children.
