Info | With a distinguished career in education and public service, Rick Johnson is a champion for his community of Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock.
Since 1997, Rick has served his community as a public school trustee for Trillium Lakelands District School Board. In 2004, he was elected to serve as President of the Ontario Public School Boards Association, serving for three consecutive terms. As President, Rick worked with school boards, teachers, and the provincial government to strengthen public education.
As a school board Chairperson, he actively supported breakfast programs for area children, was involved in the introduction of Character Education programs, co-op education programs, literacy initiatives, and community infrastructure development.
Through his fundraising efforts and volunteerism, Rick has built strong relationships with such community organizations as Kawartha Food Source, Kawartha Child Services and Lindsay and District Chamber of Commerce.
Rick has also been a member of numerous boards and committees including the Provincial Safe Schools Committee, Provincial Committee reviewing funding and delivery of Special Education Services, City of Kawartha Lakes (COKL) Anti-drug Committee and the COKL Library Board.
Rick and his wife of thirty-two years, Terri, have two children, Patricia and Michael. They have made their home on their farm in Pontypool.
