Info | Suffolk County Legislator Jack Eddington has lived in the 7th Legislative District for the past 36 years. Raised in the Queensbridge Housing Projects, Jack moved to Medford with his wife of 39 years, New York State Assemblywoman Patricia Eddington, at his side. Together they have two grown children and four grandchildren.
As a young man, Jack volunteered to serve in the U.S. Military, spending four years in the Navy stationed on aircraft carriers overseas. After serving his country, Jack quickly earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Studies and later earned a Masters Degree in Education and a Masters Degree in Social Work.
For 29 years, Jack established himself as a role-model for youth, working as an educator, a substance-abuse counselor, and social worker in the Patchogue-Medford School District. From 1982 to 1994, Jack served as a consultant for the U.S. Department of Education and from 1994 to 2006 as an adjunct professor of education at Dowling College. He has authored two books: Impact Teaching and First Survive, Then Thrive.
Since first being elected in 2006, Jack has served as the Chair of the Public Safety Committee and as Vice Chair of the Veterans and Seniors Committee. In this capacity and as a member of the Suffolk County Legislature, Jack has worked tirelessly to cut through the bureaucratic red tape and put people first. To that end, he maintains an open-door policy in his office and continues to welcome constituents who have problems and concerns.
