InfoThe Honourable Dr. Kenneth Wykeham McNeill, MD, MP was sworn in as Minister of Tourism and Entertainment on January 6, 2012.

Minister McNeill is a member of the People’s National Party and assumed his first position as a legislator when he was appointed a government Senator in 1995 until 1997. He was first elected as Member of Parliament for Western Westmoreland in 1997 and was re-elected in 2002, 2007 and 2011.

Minister McNeill is no stranger to the tourism portfolio, having been appointed Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism and Sports from 2000 to 2007, with responsibility for Tourism Operations, including cruise shipping and tourism development.

Dr. McNeill, throughout his recent political career, has maintained a keen focus on tourism, serving as the Opposition Spokesman on Tourism, Entertainment and Culture from September 2007 to December 2011.

Minister McNeill has contributed to and served on several boards and was a Co-Founder and Director of the Clinic of Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy. He was also the founding Chairman of the Sports Development Foundation and held the post from 1995-2000. He has also served as a member of the medical teams for the national football and national Olympic teams as well as a member of the Jamaica Boxing Board of Control Committee.

Minister McNeill is a physician by profession having graduated from medical school in Havana, Cuba in 1983. He has worked as a practicing physician and surgeon in various hospitals across Jamaica including the St. Ann’s Bay, Spanish Town, University and the Kingston Public hospitals. He later went on to private practice at the Eureka Medical Centre.

Dr. McNeill is married to Sheila Benjamin-McNeill and has two children.
