Perennial candidate Joe Carr recently released a poll suggesting he had a 16-point lead in the Rutherford County mayor’s race over incumbent Bill Ketron. Deep down in the survey, pollster Triton noted an unusual arrangement by which 180 of the 455 respondents were supplied by the client. And yet just 144 of those surveyed said they would vote for Carr, meaning not even all those handpicked by the campaign backed the candidate.
We suppose it’s all on-brand for Carr, who in the last decade has lost races for the U.S. House and Senate, state Republican Party chair, and the Tennessee Senate.
