InfoGlen Pearson has been an active community figure in London since he first became a professional firefighter 29 years ago. Involved in numerous causes over the years he became perhaps best known as the volunteer director of the London Food Bank. In its 20 years of operation the food bank has fed thousands of local individuals and families and has been a driving force in the attempt to end child poverty in Canada.

Leading the London Food Bank and also helping to direct the Ontario Association of Food Banks has provided Glen with a key understanding into some of the struggles faced by many citizens in London North-Centre – immigration issues, lack of doctors, low-income earners, minimum wage earners, struggling university students, the challenges faced by modern educational institutions, etc. His concern over such issues caused him to become active in all three levels of government over the years.

In 1998, along with his wife Jane Roy, Glen began human rights and development work in Sudan. This work has included building schools and infrastructure, fighting modern day slavery, community development and supporting local enterprises as they enter into the competitive world market system.

After almost 30 years of public service in London, he has worked on poverty, immigration, refugee, job creation, health and public safety issues in our community and wants to see those important issues championed in Ottawa.

Glen Pearson and Jane Roy live with their adopted daughter Abuk in London, where he continues to work as a Captain on the London Fire Department.
