DescriptionCoalition of 25 left-of-center parties and movements led by former Foreign Minister, 2012 presidential candidate and sixth Secretary General of the Arab League, Amr Moussa. Alliance aimed mainly to preserve the multiparty political system established in Egypt after the 2011 Revolution by becoming an alternative to, and preventing control by, a single dominating political faction. Alliance however was only able to pick up 12 seats in the 2015 Parliament, reduced to seven in the Parliament of 2020. Moussa was succeeded by the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Al-Orabi, until his resignation in 2014. Omar El-Mokhtar Semeida's ascension as Conference leader resulted in the departure of many participating parties after he moved the alliance center-right and offered the Conference's support to Egyptian President El-Sisi [حزب المؤتمر المصري; also called the Egyptian Nation Alliance and the Egyptian Congress].
