DescriptionProgressive Minnesota was created in 1994 as a member-based organization dedicated to furthering an agenda of social and economic justice and a democracy where everyone has an equal voice. Through focused and effective community organizing, PM advocated for issues that matter to working people - living wages, civil rights and opposing corporate welfare.

Our first big victories came in 1997 when PM stopped a plan to build a publicly subsidized stadium and won important civil rights protections in Minneapolis. Since then PM has worked in coalition to pass important living wage job ordinances, win needed funding for public schools, and supported a number of candidates for local and state office.

Our membership has grown and reflects the diversity of our organizing work. While we are bigger and now take on even bigger challenges, our commitment to social and economic justice and real grassroots democracy has not wavered. We maintain the same pragmatic approach to organizing individuals to realize their collective power and work hard to help our allies win on issues and elections.
