Left-wing nationalist party identified ideologically with oft-time ruling FRETILIN. Party seeks to nurture East Timor's culture and ideological traditions, and 'cement' the status of historical heroes in the Timorese pantheon. CASDT sought to compete in electoral alliance with the Frente Ampla Democrática (FAD) ahead of parliamentary elections in East Timor planned in 2023, but was forced to run on its own by the Supreme Court of East Timor. Party was founded by Gil da Costa Alves (died in 2019) and has been led by its General Secretary Gally Soares Araújo since March 4, 2023 [Partidu Centro Acção Social Democrata Timorense (CASDT); aka, Centro ASDT].
