Description"File this one under the heading unintended consequences which often happens in politics.

Suffice it to say Gov. Rick Snyder did not decide to send Detroit into bankruptcy in order to improve his standing in the polls, but by golly, that happened.

Last June the Conservative Intel Poll had the governor's job approval rating at 34%. It's now at 41%, a seven point climb and a complete turnaround. They did not ask if this was linked to the governor's decision on Detroit but one could connect those dots based on the other questions.

Do you have a more favorable opinion of the governor because of the decision?

A respectable 36% said yes; 23% said no and the rest concluded it had no impact on their view of Mr. Snyder.

Or how about this one: Do you agree or disagree with the governor's decision to appoint an Emergency Manager and file the bankruptcy motion. 55% agree, 21% don't and 23% are neutral."
