Description | The state House candidate charged with driving under the influence and hitting a 7-year-old girl with her vehicle withdrew her candidacy Tuesday.
Carmen Toft, 32, was arrested for allegedly hitting a child with her vehicle. The incident occurred May 22 at 8:16 p.m. at the corner of 8th Street and Chicago Avenue in Sioux Falls.
"Carmen had decided to withdraw as a candidate previous to this incident," South Dakota Democratic Party Chairman Ben Nesselhuff said in a statement to KSFY. "We look forward to putting this behind us and to having a vigorous debate on the issues for the next several months." |
