Description | Pittsburgh Post-Gazette article.
An excerpt...
" Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl won the Allegheny County Democratic Committee's endorsement today, by a vote of 602 to 163, marking a step forward in his effort to be elected to the post he's held since Bob O'Connor's Sept. 1 death.
The result puts the mayor in a strong position 10 weeks before the May 15 primary against his lone announced challenger, Councilman William Peduto, who sent committee members aprons in a last-ditch effort to cook up an upset win.
In the race for the city's number two post of controller, Allegheny County Prothonotary Michael Lamb won by a single vote over acting Controller Tony Pokora. The result could be challenged. City Council President Doug Shields was a distant third.
Mr. Shields, pursuing not only the controller's seat but reelection to council, won the endorsement for his current job over his challenger, school board member Theresa Colaizzi." |
