DescriptionOhio Senate President Bill Harris (R-Ashland) Monday announced that a screening committee is recommending State Representative Keith Faber (R-Celina) for the appointment to the 12th State Senate District.

Members of the full Republican Caucus must vote on the appointment before he can be officially seated.

“Keith’s legal background, his reputation for hard work and his strong record of service to his constituents as a three-term member of the Ohio House, made him the best choice amid an impressive field of candidates,” Harris said.

“As we continue to work to revitalize our economy, create more jobs and provide our children the best educations possible, we are confident that Keith will not only be a welcome addition to our team in Columbus, but an effective representative for his region.”With the expected support of fellow Republicans in the Senate, Faber will fill the vacancy left once current Senator Jim Jordan takes his seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The 12th Senate District includes Allen, Champaign, Mercer, Preble, Shelby and parts of Auglaize and Darke counties. As the State Representative for the 77th Ohio House District, Faber has represented and been re-elected three times by the people of Mercer, Preble and Darke counties
