DescriptionMETHUEN - Throughout her campaign for mayor, Sharon M. Pollard has been saying she would bring the town's need for a new post office to Washington.

Yesterday, an official from Washington showed up and said he'd gotten the message.

Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, D-Massachusetts, who endorsed Ms. Pollard's candidacy at a fund-raiser yesterday, told a crowd of her supporters that he would work to get the town a much-discussed new post office.
