Description | Voters across Georgia headed to the polls Tuesday to cast either a Democratic, Republican, or non-partisan ballot in the Georgia primary.
Several key races were up for grabs, including two hotly-contested U.S. Senate races. Eight Democrats and three Republicans are in the running to succeed outgoing Democratic Sen. Zell Miller.
Miller, who is retiring, told 11Alive's Denis O'Hayer that he would not endorse anyone to take over his Senate seat. Miller did endorse President Bush over fellow Democrat John Kerry.
The most recent Insider-Advantage poll shows Congressman Johnny Isakson with 46 percent of the vote -- just four points shy of winning without a runoff. Businessman Herman Cain received 20 percent, Congressman Mac Collins got 16 percent, with 20 percent of voters undecided. |
