DescriptionFormer Vermont Governor and Democratic Presidential candidate delivered his trademark brand of anti-Bush rhetoric to over 1800 faithful at a visit to Tulane University on Monday. However, for Senate hopeful State Rep. Arthur A. Morrell, it wasn’t so much what the one-time Democratic presidential front-runner said that mattered as much as what he didn’t say.

Beginning his remarks to the standing room only crowd at McAlister auditorium, Dean acknowledged the presence of Morrell, the lone state elected official in the room, but offered nothing more. In addition, Morrell was the only state elected official to endorse Dean’s candidacy.

Morrell’s campaign had indicated before the speech that an endorsement for the long-shot Senate candidate would provide a much needed boost in terms of support and funding. Morrell came out early endorsing Dean in January and served as chairman of the Dean campaign in the state. Given this Morrell, who trails the three other announced Senate candidates in a recent poll, was counting on reciprocity
