Regarding Brent's poll from two days ago, it looks like the Democrats had a very good night: winning KY Gov, Ohio referendum, and both houses of the VA legislature. If they had taken the MS Gov, it would have been a great night for the Dems.

In my county, the Reps gained a little but still lost our county races 64-36%. This county used to be a Republican stronghold.

Chris Christie is already saying that the results are more proof that the Reps need to get away from Trump.

I'll say I think it was overall a better night for Dems than Reps, but there were some bright spots for Republicans on the local level.

Winning both houses of the VA Legislature is definitely a big win for Dems and holding the KY Governors mansion and running a good campaign in MS was a positive result. The narrative that the abortion issue is helping Democrats with voters was re-enforced by the election results.

For Republicans there were highlights on the local level. While the Republican highlight is Tate Reeves winning re-election in MS, the GOP also gained back the County Exec in Suffolk County NY, picked up the Manchester NH Mayor's office, held the Aurora CO Mayor's office by a wide margin. Additionally there was an impressive GOP win in a double digit Biden district on the NY Council.

Congrats also to the top Libertarian election - future Wichita Mayor Lily Wu.

Republicans gained a seat in MA Senate by a candidate that campaigned heavily on illegal immigration in his state.

And keep in mind the GOP picked up a Governorship a few weeks ago.

Mr. Politics: And keep in mind the GOP picked up a Governorship a few weeks ago.

Are you saying that Republicans can actually win governorships in deep red states? Shocking.

BrentinCO: I think the point is that in the context of the entire Election 2023, the LA Gov win is a Republican success and should be considered when evaluating the narrative of who won the election.

I forgot about it. And its a Republican pickup that moves the GOP up to a 27 - 23 advantage in Governors houses.

That's correct. Thank you for correcting a mis-interpretation.
