Description The principal institution and command center of the Arab League. Body composed of representatives of 22 member states, and 5 observer states. Each member state has a single vote on the Council. The president of the Council is selected among the 22 states. A Secretary General or Secretariat of the Arab League is proposed and voted on by 2/3rds of the member states. The Council also supervises seven committees, each created by Charter.

Syria's representation has been suspended since November 16, 2011.
