About Lionel
Lionel is married to Claire, a local teacher. They have three young children.
He runs his own political research and publishing company, which he started in 1984. He is a member of the National Union of Journalists, and a Fellow of the Institute of Public Relations.
His hobbies include tennis, martial arts and classic cars.
Lionel's Experience
Lionel was chairman of his Conservative Association at Sussex University. He then went on to become Chairman of Enfield Southgate Conservative Association.
He has stood for Enfield Council, and is standing as a list candidate for the Greater London Assembly. At the last general election he was the Election Agent for David Burrowes when he fought Edmonton.
Conservatives - Working for Edmonton
Lionel says the fight against crime is his number one priority. Crime, and the fear of crime, affects everyone, whether they live in a big house in Bush Hill Park or a flat in Upper Edmonton. He also expects tax to be a big issue. People don’t mind paying tax but only if they get to see some results.
This Government taxes, and borrows, and spends at a rate of nearly a £1 million pounds a minute. By the time of the next general election they will be raising nearly twice as much in tax as the last Conservative government, but nobody seriously thinks that public services are twice as good – or even noticeably better.
Apart from crime and tax Lionel also said he would be asking people for their opinion on the Edmonton Incinerator, the North Circular Road, and the North Middlesex University Hospital. He will also be looking at the impact which the government’s asylum policy is having on Edmonton, and the implications of Ken Livingstone’s instruction to Enfield Council to build 13,000 new living units in the Borough.
