InfoSince graduating from Western University and completing medical school at the University of Toronto, Dr. Shamji has devoted his career to helping people. After having spent his earlier years providing healthcare on Indigenous reserves across Canada, Adil now serves as an Emergency Physician and the Medical Director for 11 homeless shelters in the City of Toronto. He is a trusted expert in matters of public health and medicine. In addition to his role as a physician, Dr. Shamji works as a faculty member in the school of medicine at the University of Toronto. He has been at the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic and the opioid crisis.

“I have dedicated myself to improving the health and well-being of my patients wherever that help has been needed most. I will be proud to bring this same commitment to Queen’s Park so that we can lead Don Valley East and all of Ontario towards a brighter, more prosperous future.

I have spent my career in the service of others as an emergency physician. During that time, whether providing health care on northern reserves or serving people in the shelter system in Toronto, I have seen first-hand the impacts of poor legislation and slow-to-act governments on the provinces most vulnerable. I have witnessed the impacts of a skyrocketing cost of living in Ontario and the deep need for more work to be done toward Indigenous reconciliation. I am frustrated that so many of my patients in the ER are victims of bad public policy and I am ready to do the hard work needed to serve Don Valley East as their next Member of Provincial Parliament."
