InfoGrier Martin is a Democratic member of the North Carolina General Assembly representing the state's 34th House District, comprising the northern part of Raleigh in Wake county. An attorney from Raleigh, North Carolina, Martin is currently (2007-2008 session) serving his second term in the state House of Representatives where he chairs the Homeland Security, Military, and Veterans Affairs Committee.[1]

Martin defeated Republican J.H. Ross in the November 2006 election.[2] He was first elected in the 2004 elections after defeating incumbent Republican Don Munford.[3]

Martin is considered a possible opponent against incumbent Elizabeth Dole in 2008 when she runs for re-election. A July 11th poll by Public Policy Polling found Martin trailing Dole by only six percent, 43-37. [4]

He is currently a major in the US Army Reserve and served in Afghanistan in 2002-03.[5] Martin graduated from Davidson College and the University of North Carolina School of Law where he served as a Note Editor of the North Carolina Law Review.[6] He is married with one daughter.[7]
