InfoBorn and raised in our council district, Heather Hutt has dedicated her life to public service and standing up for our community. She has an unrivaled record of fighting for residents, small businesses, civil rights, and the resources our community needs to thrive.

She knows that if you don’t stand up and fight you simply won’t get what you need. That’s why she’s spent her career fighting to improve the lives of all Californians and Angelenos.

The first Black U.S. Senate State Director in California’s history, she fought for women’s rights and against the Trump Administration’s assault on Dreamers. Heather works tirelessly to ensure civil rights, human rights, women’s rights, equality, and economic and social justice for all.

Before her work in the U.S. Senate, Heather championed environmental justice policy changes for Watts and South Los Angeles, launched the “VOTE LA“ campaign, LA Cities Clean Air-Clean Water campaign, and shaped critical outreach to pass the “Durbin Bill” which provided aid for small businesses. Heather has been a passionate advocate and organizer for marginalized communities.

Heather knows and understands our community. She raised her three sons as a single mother here. That’s why she values good, local jobs and businesses, and why she fights to get us good jobs you can raise a family on.

Heather is the first Black woman to be appointed to the Los Angeles City Council. Since her appointment, she has worked tirelessly to deliver both on the progressive policies that make our city better, but also the nuts and bolts needs of our community, like planting trees, fixing sidewalks, and building and maintaining parks and youth programs.

We can count on Heather to deliver for our community – she already is.
