Info | Ed Meyer is a graduate of Stanford University (BA in International Relations, 1983) and Georgetown University Law Center (JD, 1991). He practices business and health care law at the corporate boutique firm of Schell Bray Aycock Abel & Livingston P.L.L.C. in Greensboro, North Carolina. His legal career has included significant work in health care mergers and acquisitions, business start-ups, and corporate compliance with some of the most complex state and federal regulations.
Ed is a former member of the Administration of President Ronald Reagan. He was appointed as a special assistant for policy development at the Social Security Administration. He has also worked as a legislative assistant to Rep. Philip M. Crane (R-IL).
While working for Rep. Crane, Ed assisted on early proposals for a flat tax, health care savings accounts, and elimination of dividend taxation. Rep. Crane is the current Vice-Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee.
Ed grew up in a devout, religious family. According to Ed: �My mother came to this country, legally, from Mexico in 1954 and worked as a housekeeper. My father, the son of two immigrants, started working when he was 13 years old and built a successful glass company.
Ed is married to the former Karol Anne Lamos, a former staff member to U.S. Senator John P. East of North Carolina and to President Ronald Reagan. Ed met his wife, Karol Anne, at the White House, where she worked at the Office of Presidential Personnel. Ed and Karol Anne have been married for over 12 years and have two children, Michael (born 1999) and August (born 1993).
Ed is also active in a number of civic and non-profit organizations, including:
The Knights of Columbus, where he served as the Grand Knight of Piedmont Council 939
Member, Moses Cone Health System Institutional Review Board.
Secretary-Treasurer of the North Carolina Society of Health Care Attorneys and is an active member of the Health Care Financial Management Association
Board Member, Mental Health Association in Greensboro.
