Info | Michael Mason is a candidate for the House of Representatives for the Sixth Congressional District of Illinois. He is a former Postal Service executive who retired as the Manager of the Great Lakes Area Distribution Networks office. He is from a middle class background and believes the American dream can be achieved, even in the most trying of times.
Coming from a middle class background has defined Michael’s outlook. He believes the middle class is what makes America strong and is the vital cog to continued economic growth. To ensure a thriving middle class, Michael believes that there has to be a strong emphasis on education: an effective public education system, community colleges, including trade schools, advanced education and preschool. In addition, he believes there is a strong payback in government investment in job creation. There is a larger return on the dollar invested in jobs than invested in tax reductions for the wealthy. Michael received his education in Illinois earning a degree in Political Science from Illinois State University and a Masters degree in business from Keller Graduate School of Management.
As a Postal Service executive, Michael managed a quasi governmental office that developed the transportation and logistics for the Great Lakes Area managing mail transportation for Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin and a portion of Missouri. Michael managed a workforce consisting of 33 network/logistics specialists and 12 contract specialists. Having performed both positions prior to becoming an executive, Michael has gained a keen insight into potential pitfalls with government contracting and the potential for cost reducing measures and techniques.
Besides managing Postal Service contracted transportation, Michael also integrated local transportation with outside business partners such as Federal Express and United Parcel Service. This gave him the experience necessary to ensure that complex government organizations (much like Congress) functioned with private sector businesses.Michael Mason is a retired Postal Service executive and a candidate for the House of Representatives for the Sixth Congressional District of Illinois. He is a moderate/progressive from a middle class background that believes the American dream lives, even in the most trying of times.
