Infoirst elected to the House of Commons in a 1995 by-election, Lucienne Robillard was appointed Minister of Labour and Minister responsible for the federal campaign in the Quebec referendum. She was re-elected in June 1997 and in November 2000.

In 1996, she became Minister of Citizenship and Immigration and Co-Chair of the Electoral Platform Committee.

On August 3, 1999, she was appointed President of the Treasury Board and Minister responsible for Infrastructure.

A youth leader on a kibbutz in Israel between 1969 and 1972, a social worker and an administrator, she has distinguished herself in the health network and in the field of social services in hospitals. She was Public Curator of Quebec from 1986 to 1989.

Elected to the National Assembly in 1989 representing Chambly, she went on to serve in several Cabinet positions between 1989 and 1994: Cultural Affairs, Higher Education and Science, Education and Science, and Health and Social Services.

She obtained a Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Montreal, 1967, and a diploma in Administration, 1983, and an M.B.A.,1986, from the Montreal's �cole des hautes �tudes commerciales.
