Info | Sen. Andrew R. Peterson, a Republican, was first elected to the New Hampshire Senate in November of 2002.
He served as a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 1996 to 2002, where he was recognized for his service as vice chair of the impeachment inquiry regarding the conduct of a New Hampshire Supreme Court justice. As a freshman member of the House of Representatives, Peterson was chosen to attend the Darden School for Emerging Political Leaders at the University of Virginia.
Peterson is chairman of the Judiciary Committee and vice chair of the Banks Committee. He is also a member of both the Executive Departments and Administration, and the Ethics committees, serves on the Fiscal Committee of the General Court.
An active member of the local community, Peterson has served as his town's Budget Committee chairman, board member of Granite State Youth Mentors, Volunteer N.H., member of the College Tuition Savings Plan Advisory Commission, and member of the New England Board of Higher Education.
Peterson's legislative priorities include education funding, economic development, maintenance of a healthy environment, and quality of life.
He is the co-owner of The Peterson's Inc. Real Estate in Peterborough. Peterson is a graduate of Phillips Academy and Dartmouth College and is a certified commercial investment member.
Peterson, a life-long resident of Peterborough, and his wife, Kirsten, have four daughters.
