InfoA Wilmington, Delaware native, Jeremy Harris moved to Honolulu in the late 1960s to attend college at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa where he received his bachelor degrees. In 1974, he received his Master's degree in Population and Environmental Biology and Urban Ecosystems at the University of California Irvine. He was an instructor at the Kaua'i Community College teaching oceanography.

Jeremy Harris was the eleventh Mayor of the City and County of Honolulu from 1994 to 2004. As Managing Director of the twelfth largest municipality in the nation, Harris assumed the mayorship upon the resignation of Frank F. Fasi who was forced to give up the seat to run for Governor of Hawai'i.

Before his service with the City and County of Honolulu, Harris was Executive Assistant to the Mayor of Kaua'i [1985], Kaua'i County Councilmember [1982-84], Kaua'i County Council Chairman [1980-82].

Like most Hawai'ians serving elected office today, Harris was a delegate to the Hawai'i State Constitutional Convention in 1978.

In 2002, Harris led all local media polls as he ran for Governor of Hawai'i. Stunning his army of supporters, he pulled out of the race.
