Parents Father - Danylo Kuchma, died in 1944 at the front.
Mother - Paraska Kuchma, a collective farmer.
Family status Married with a daughter, Olena, a grandson, Roman, and a granddaughter, Kateryna.
His wife Lyudmyla Kuchma is Honorary President of the National Fund for Social Protection of Mothers and Children "Ukraine to Children".
His daughter Olena is an economist.
Education Higher. In 1960 Mr. Kuchma graduated from Dnipropetrovsk State University, Department of Physical Engineering, and obtained a degree in rocket engineering. Professor, candidate of technical sciences, author of numerous inventions and scientific technical works, Honorary Doctor of numerous foreign institutes of higher education, full member of a number of Academies of Sciences.

1960-1982 Engineer, senior engineer, leading designer, assistant chief designer, technical director of tests of rocket and space complexes at Baikonur Space Centre.
