Info | SULLOWAY, Cyrus Adams, a Representative from New Hampshire; born in Grafton, Grafton County, N.H., June 8, 1839; attended the common schools, Colby Academy, and Kimball Academy; studied law in Franklin, N.H.; was admitted to the bar in 1863 and commenced practice in Manchester, N.H.; member of the State house of representatives in 1872, 1873, and 1887-1893; elected as a Republican to the Fifty-fourth and to the eight succeeding Congresses (March 4, 1895-March 3, 1913); chairman, Committee on Expenditures in the Department of Justice (Fifty-fifth Congress), Committee on Invalid Pensions (Fifty-sixth through Sixty-second Congresses); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1912 to the Sixty-third Congress; elected to the Sixty-fourth and Sixty-fifth Congresses and served from March 4, 1915, until his death in Washington, D.C., March 11, 1917; interment in the City Cemetery, Franklin, N.H.
