| Info | Fred is passionate about the people, progress and prosperity in the First District.
Fred was raised by a single mother in the Robert Taylor Homes housing projects. As a resident of the Robert Taylor housing projects, gun violence, drug dealing, and gang banging was the norm and just some of the obstacles Fred had to overcome. Growing up below the poverty line, his mother always taught him that education was the key to a better life for him and his family. Fred graduated from Du Sable High School and soon after joined the United States Army. After serving his country in the 325th Airborne Infantry Paratrooper Unit during Desert Storm, he returned to Chicago where he served his community working at a chemical dependency agency. In this position, he assisted drug and alcohol addicted individuals to recover from their addiction. He continues his mission as an agent for social justice within the community as he works at a youth care agency. He has continued this mission of social justice for the past 13 years. He is currently a Program Director for the agency. Fred understands the importance of dedication, hard work, and commitment. He has proven that through perseverance coupled with determination, individuals can create healthy, strong, and viable communities.
After completing his B.A. in communications from Northeastern Illinois University, Fred earned Master degrees in Business Administration (MBA) and in Public Health (MPH) from Saint Xavier University. In addition to his academic endeavors, he also devotes several hours to various community service projects. His works includes partnerships with various community groups and organizations: Grand Boulevard Federation Safety Net, Balance and Restorative of Justice, the PROMISE Task Force, Fatherhood Initiative, and Veteran of Foreign Wars (VFW). Fred and his wife Pamela of 14 years and their three kids live in Evergreen Park. Fred has an older son who lives and attends college in Ohio.
