Info | FULLER, William Elijah, a Representative from Iowa; born in Howard, Center County, Pa., March 30, 1846; moved with his parents to West Union, Fayette County, Iowa, in 1853; attended the common schools, the Upper Iowa University at Fayette, and the State University of Iowa at Iowa City; was graduated from the law department of the latter university in June 1870; was admitted to the bar the same year and commenced practice in West Union; held a position in the Office of Indian Affairs, Department of the Interior, in 1866 and 1867; member of the West Union Board of Education for six years; member of the Iowa house of representatives in 1876 and 1877; member of the Republican State and congressional committees; elected as a Republican to the Forty-ninth and Fiftieth Congresses (March 4, 1885-March 3, 1889); declined to be a candidate for renomination in 1888; Assistant Attorney General, Spanish Treaty Claims Commission, 1901-1907; resumed the practice of law in West Union; died in Washington, D.C., April 23, 1918; interment in West Union Cemetery, West Union, Iowa.
