Saw Constantine speculated in local media. Why he'd accept such a poisoned chalice, I have no idea. Ditto for Ferguson. They both want to be Gov anyway.
The most likely result is there will be a lefty upstart from SALT or People's Party who can't get a majority and that crowd will make it rough for whatever milquetoast mayor is elected because Seattle is full of NIMBY conservatives that think themselves progressive just because they're Democrats. Gonzalez might be able to straddle that line somewhat and win while mostly avoiding that factional mess. We know she is ambitious, but will she see this as a viable career path?
Out of all these folks, Burgess is definitely running, and one of Gonzalez or Mosqueda. I also think Kate Martin might run, and if not her, then Murakami. A lot of these folks, if they don't run for Mayor, they will run for Gonzalez or Mosqueda's seat on the Council.
Excited to see if Casey Sixkiller's UBI scheme "R.I.S.E - Reliable Income Supporting Equity" gains some traction in this race. Anxious for him to provide more details. It certainly distinguishes him from the others running and maybe there is an Andrew Yang endorsement in the offing.
UBI pilots in NYC and Seattle would be great with the election of Yang and Sixkiller.
It'll end up being Bruce and either Gonzalez or Echohawk in the General. If Gonzalez can make the General, I think she wins. If Echohawk makes the General, it would be close but I think Bruce would win imo
Each Seattle resident (including those not registered to vote & green card holders) gets 4x $25 vouchers funded by the City to assign to a campaign for City Council, City Attorney, or Mayor. Eligible campaigns must sign financial pledges & have a certain number of signatures in support of their participation in the program to even start accepting vouchers.
You don't have to use your vouchers in the Primary per se, it's just statistically more useful to campaigns that way.
Campaigns can use that Voucher money just as they would any other financial contribution. There's no real expiry date or restrictions except for standard campaign finance law.
I gave all four of mine to Nicole Thomas-Kennedy (City Attorney's race), but some I know give any combination of theirs to different candidates.
Seattle also has fundraising caps, and if a campaign reaches those, they cannot accept DVs any more.
Campaigns can apply to have that cap removed. Houston did because Harrell allies set up a PAC just for him, to circumvent the campaign finance laws, and now others are applying to get released from the cap.
