Speculation is that this election may come much sooner than expected.

In order to qualify, candidates must have the support of 35 MPs (15% of Labour Party representatives in the House of Commons).
The word is that Burnham and Cooper are securing most of the nominations, while Kendall is close to the threshold and Creagh & Hunt are well short.
Nominations formally open next month between June 9th and June 15th.

Burnham, Cooper, Corbyn & Kendall all got the necessary 35 MPs to make it onto the ballot. Some of Corbyn's 35, including Sadiq Khan and David Lammy, do not support Corbyn but helped nominate him to ensure a full debate.
The Daily Mirror has a link to who nominated the five (now four) candidates: [Link]

Some Labour MPs nominated Corbyn to provide a range of voices in the election. I bet they didn't expect this.

Mark my words i think Labour in the UK as a whole will see a huge decline. Perhaps in Scotland i feel the decline will be held steady to current levels of support. But many will See Corbryn as to Left wing. In Scotland a lot of people dont like him because of his reluctance for substantial new powers to Scotland.

That's interesting. I thought Corbyn might be able to help in the Scottish urban areas (if anywhere), but I didn't know about his position on Scottish powers.
I read in Politico the issue facing Ed Miliband as a leader: wasn't left enough for Scotland, wasn't centrist enough for southern England, and wasn't protectionist enough for north England. Guess Corbyn will at least be a strong voice for that first leg of the three-legged Labour stool.
Will be interesting to see his Shadow Cabinet, mainly because the shadow cabinet slots exceed the number of MPs who backed Corbyn.

The NDP wins in Alberta and Jeremy Corbyn becomes leader of the Labour party. This is the weirdest year.

Yeah but a lof English voters are extremely put off by him. Many Found Ed Milliband as to left wing for them. I think Labour are going to have an uphill battle across England now. Might Increase Support Futher towards Scottish Independence in Scotland. I have seen a big chance in attitudes over the course of the year for Independence sine the NO vote last year.

@E Pluribus Unum -- no need to have Jeremy Corbyn endorse himself.
Can someone remove? Thanks.

Jeremy Corbyn endorsed himself in this race I'm not sure why someone deleted it
|
|
|
Because it wasn't meant to be there, I meant to add the endorsement of his brother then clicked Jeremy instead

I'm just saying it seems like revisionist history to remove a legitimate endorsement. Who else would Jeremy Corbyn have endorsed?

It is completely unnecessary to have people endorse themselves. That is not allowed here.

Will you shut down the site again if that policy is abused?

@E Pluribus Unum I've decided that it doesn't make sense for Jeremy Corbyn to endorse himself.
Can someone remove? Thanks.
