Oh, because many seats had multiple representatives representing them.

@Caprice, I'm going to edit the containers you made on the House of Burgesses to make the districts be disbanded on Jan 1 1777, because the House of Burgesses was dissolved around that time.

Can you keep the containers for modern-day counties? IIRC Virginia kept the House of Delegates apportioned by county until 1972. As for the others, they can be disbanded in 1650, as I don't think they existed then.

For the modern counties, since there are some instances I've seen where a part of a county has been in multiple districts (Ex: A part of Accomack Co. as one district and Another part of Accomack Co. and all of Northampton Co. in another districts), so if there are counties where there is a district involving that particular county, then yes, I'll try to keep it, but if not, then, I'll set the disbanded date to Jan 1, 1650.

The Speaker of the House is going to lose.

When is everything happening?

The new map is active as of Jan 8, 2020. You can set the time in the upper right to that. Or view a Race set up that has a TakeOffice date of then.

Should probably start putting in the races for this year.

For Virginia House? I can do that probably. ;)

Democrats lead Republicans by 13 points on the generic ballot test among likely voters, 49% to 36%. These advantages remain under our most stringent model.
Voters prefer that Democrats control the General Assembly after the election, 53% to 37%, powered by a 17-point advantage among Independents. - [Link]

I am personally looking forward to casting my ballot next month in hopes of VA Democrats reclaiming both houses of the General Assembly. Of course, no one can blow an election like the Democrats.

We're going to find out if the VA Dems win back both chambers of the VA General Assembly.

We found out. They won.

Not a single Republican now represents any part of Northern Virginia (Fairfax, Loudon, Prince William) in either the state house or state senate. That is a huge shift in Virginia politics that has now completed itself.

The VA House Republican Caucus tweeted out yesterday that they were disappointed that the new House Democratic leadership team doesn't reflect the Commonwealth because they are all from northern Virginia. I supposed the 4 white heterosexual Christian men in their leadership team are supposedly better representatives.

Not a fan of unopposed races; looks like Virginia isn't, either.
