InfoExcerpted from Candidate's website.

"My name is Michael Shaw and I’m a lifelong Delaware County resident. I grew up and currently reside in Springfield Township. You could say that law enforcement is in my blood. My grandfather, LeRoy Shaw, served as the Chief of the Morton Borough Fire Police Department and my uncle, James Shaw, works as a Police Officer in Chester County.

I attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help School in Morton, was active in sports with Kedron Youth Association in Ridley, and am a 1995 graduate of Springfield High School, where I excelled in the areas of Social Studies, English, and especially Government. I owe my passion for the political process especially to Mr. William C. McRae, one of the finest teachers at Springfield High School. I was also a student leader at Springfield High School – president of the local SADD chapter, member of the Student Council, and a Peer Facilitator, among other activities.

In 1999, I obtained my B.A. in Criminal Justice and Political Science from Allentown College of St. Francis de Sales (now known as DeSales University). I was the President of the College Democrats, Vice President of the Politics Club, Chairman of the Ethical Leadership Series group, Chairman of the Student Activities Organization, and a Resident Advisor and Senior Resident Advisor.

Following college, I went to work as a Security Enforcement Officer at Springfield Mall. Later, I worked as an Investor Services Specialist for PFPC in King of Prussia, where I headed up several special projects. I left PFPC in April 2001, to begin work as the Administrative Director for the Delaware County Democratic Party, where I was responsible for the day-to-day activities of the party office in Media. Finally, I returned to the Springfield Mall – initially on a part-time basis and was eventually promoted to Shift Supervisor and then to the position of Director of Security. I will be entering my third year as Security Director in May 2005. As the Director of Security for Springfield Mall – one of the county’s largest shopping centers – I interact on an almost daily basis with local police and law enforcement officials in ensuring the safety and security of the employees and hundreds of customers who patronize the mall.

Currently, I serve as the Treasurer of the Delaware County Democratic Committee and previously served as their Secretary. I am fortunate to count Cliff Wilson and many of those who work closely with the county Dems as political mentors and friends."
