Info | Janina Wycalek was appointed to the Walpack Township Committee on May 28, 2013 after Committeeman Russ Pagano's resignation. A Democrat, Wycalek is currently the most junior member of the town's three seat Committee. Wycalek ran unopposed in the 2013 general election, however she received 88% of the vote due to one write-in vote. She ran for a second term in 2016, this time receiving 91% of the vote due to another write-in vote. In 2019 while running for a third term, Wycalek faced a challenge from Republican Ken Salazar who wrote his name in the town's Republican primary. This was the small town's first contested election since, at least, 1985. Wycalek beat Salazar 72%-28% which translated to 5 votes for Wycalek and 2 for Salazar. While on the Committee Wycalek served as deputy mayor from 2014-2015, 2016-2017, and from 2019-2020.
