| Info | Beno�t Serr� was elected in the riding of Timiskaming�French River in 1993, and elected in the new riding of Timiskaming�Cochrane in 1997 and again in 2000.
He is currently a member of the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs, Northern Development and Natural Resources and has served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Natural Resources.
He has served as vice-chair of the Standing Committee on Natural Resources and Government Operations, as chair of the Standing Committee on Official Languages and as a member of the Joint Committee on Scrutiny of Regulations. He also was chosen vice-chair of the Northern Ontario Liberal Caucus, and was a member of the Liberal Rural Caucus and the Liberal Caucus Committee on Re-Training.
In private life, Mr. Serr� had experience in business management, investment, and motivational and personal development training. He is certified by the Canadian School of Accounting (Tax), and had a licence from the Ontario Real Estate Board.
His community work includes service with the Knights of Columbus, NorthCare, the West Nipissing Chamber of Commerce and the West Nipissing Outdoors Association. He was also a founder and director of the West Nipissing Development Corporation.
Mr. Serr� has two children.
