So sad.
We will get through this, we have a strong country. Its bigger than Trump, bigger than any one party, and we are surprisingly resilient.
Can't say I'm surprised. There were lots of signs building up to this. I've never felt Trump really values individuals or ideals - only himself. His mind is so warped that he probably likes whats going on.
Seems like everywhere else its about de-escalating drama. With Trump he likes conflict and drama and wants to escalate it.

I wish I were as optimistic. More than half the House GOP delegation voted to throw out the results of the election in order to install their preferred candidate. That is how dictatorships work. They did that AFTER the storming of the capitol. Josh Hawley is positioning himself to be Trump's heir apparent with direct appeals to the people who stormed the capitol. A poll out this morning finds as many Republicans approve of storming the capitol as disapprove. I hope the GOP gets its act together and becomes a constructive party of ideas, but I won't hold my breath. Our country is in deep trouble.

I should add that right-wing media will still be vying for the viewership of people like those who stormed the capitol. There will be no significant introspection, only more propaganda and fomenting of hate.

Schumer has called for invoking the 25th Amendment. That he is calling for it publicly means that Republicans must have privately dismissed the idea. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/schumer-calls-pence-use-25th-amendment-remove-trump-office-n1253296

Pelosi is using the threat of impeachment to pressure Pence and the Cabinet into invoking the 25th. I doubt very much it will make any difference, as McConnell still runs the Senate and Republicans are still mostly spineless.

Have to say, I'm pleased to see PA made #17 on the list. Though it immediately gives me cause to question the veracity of the poll -- considering that I've never known PA to perform particularly well in these things. Better than Ohio, though, and that's what counts.
I'd be interested to see the head-to-heads.

Yeh....i'm disappointed that didn't include the data.
At the same time they polled Republicans and Democrats (Americans above). Interesting to note the differences.

I have a pretty good source for tracking Congressional filings, but IS THERE a site that tracks candidate filings for state legislatures, or is it just piecemeal through the Secretaries of State? And is there a list of those sites somewhere? This cycle is proving SUPER confusing because of redistricting.

Yeah, redistricting always makes things difficult. And yes, due to our federal system state the way state offices file for office can be wildly different from state to state. I don't know of any site that collates all of them. We could, of course.
Not that the Entry date for candidates is for their official announcement, not for FEC or state filing. Many candidates file and end up never officially running.

There's no shortage of people who file with the FEC but never actually make an effort to file with the state elections offices.
But yes, it's a bit piecemeal, and some states have far better tracking systems for the candidate filings than others.

One man's opinion. I don't agree with all his views. He starts worst and works his way to first. Gives an overview of each Capitol.
Also notable that he sometimes chooses a building in the capital and not the actual state capitol.

Some random thoughts:
Here is my visited list: CO, DE, IL, IN, ME, MA, MT, NJ, NM, NC, OH, PA, RI, WV
You can find free parking right outside the state capitol building in Springfield, Illinois. I don't think I have been to another state capitol with plenty of free parking right there.
The state capitol in Raleigh was built with gray stone, and for some reason I always feel that it is dirty or dank.
I used to like the Pennsylvania state capitol building. Then I found out that during construction, a lot of the money allocated for it ended up in the pockets of politicians. [Silas Swallow discovered this.]
One day I was in Trenton for research, and Gov. Jim McGreevey was holding a press conference on the sidewalk right outside the state capitol. I often wish that I had stopped to chat with him.
