Right-wing government working exactly as advertized. The free market is deciding who lives and who freezes to death.

It doesn't matter who runs here. Florida might as well be Wyoming for the Democratic Party.

DylanSH99: Not necessarily. The way he's handled the pandemic has been detrimental.

Trump handled the pandemic about as terribly as one could expect, yet still won Florida fairly easily. People don't care.

DeSantis will win regardless of how popular or unpopular he is, and regardless of whomever runs here.

I don't really care about personality or tone, so sure, I'll vote for a Democratic socialsit who says questionable things and offends suburbanites.

It wouldn't actually be Donald Trump specifically, but a hypothetical left-wing Perot type.

Sex scandals are different for Republican candidates, because they're not held to the same standard.

Averhart should run on that as a point of pride.

Should be Biden when he blows it in November.

Not a terribly impressive night for the Dems in Kentucky, considering they got pulverized in the other statewide races and Beshear barely won here despite Bevin's unpopularity.

I don't actually believe any of these candidates will beat Trump, so for the first time ever I might just vote for whomever I like the most instead of making some calculation between likability and electability.

Canadians are fickle and don't deserve a democracy.

Comstock SURGING thanks to the wave of negative TV advertising about Wexton's opposition to Kavanaugh and support for left-wing violence in the streets.

Can't help but think this is the sort of special election that the Democrats would have won between 2006 and 2008. While certainly not a result worthy of Trump's braggadocio, it does indicate that the Dems still have work to do in the Midwest.

Labour Dem: Just because minorities want to support a candidate that is like them doesn't mean they are racist considering that minority representation in government is low. Besides that probably isn't even the entire story. Ocasio-Cortez made it a point to reach out to minority voters and even sent out literature in Albanian. That sort of outreach is what can catch an incumbent off guard, especially a heavily entrenched one.

And as the map posted above shows the race really was not decided on race so it's more than a little off base to shout racism. Crowley didn't lose because the district is racist.

Trump also received votes from some minority voters, but it would be foolish to deny that his campaign both utilized and benefited from racist dog whistles. It doesn't tell the whole story, but it happened nonetheless.

The same is true here. The only difference is that racism against white people is socially acceptable on the left.

Natalie: Not Progressive enough for this district

And also because he's white, which is apparently unacceptable in a majority-minority district.

Sorry, but racism isn't okay just because it's a progressive being one.
