Jefferson County Commissioners don't get paid and don't have official duties (the positions are required by the State Constitution) so County Commissioners spend most of their time losing races for other offices

Proposed Legislation also functions for passed legislation (as it is proposed before it's passed), but It shouldn't be used for items that aren't interesting to discuss here.

Salazar is a big Bernie guy and came close to winning the AG Primary a few years ago.

Mullica is what I'd call more of a mainstream Democrat. I'll be watching endorsements in this race pretty closely to see who might have the upperhand. Faith Winter who would have been the incumbent and would have been a shoe-in for renomination is no longer in this district due to redistricting.

This district has about 9 point D advantage over the last 8 elections and has about a 40% Hispanic population. In a State Democratic Party that is sensitive to making sure there is proper Hispanic representation, Salazar might have a slight edge.

LEAPForward: Thanks for the heads up. I'm very much stuck on my own site as far as when to even start paying attention to candidate lists because of this mess with redistricting. Is there word when CO will be finalized? Is the filing deadline still set?

Oral arguments on the legislative districts are starting this week.

We will probably hear something before Thanksgiving about approval.
