Two issues that are most important Muslims stand for are issues where Biden failed:

1) Sexual content taught in school. Muslims oppose and Biden supports.
2) Support for Israel. Muslim oppose and Biden supports.

There is a real paradox with Democrats/Leftists and Arab / Muslims - Americans. The only reason why they are informally aligned is because Arabs / Muslim - Americans are a political minority and Dems at least seemingly embrace all political minorities.

On family political issues, as you pointed out in #1 - they are closer to Republicans. Conversely some things that Democrats / Leftists are advocating for are a no go for Arabs and Muslims - as evidenced in both Canada and America in the last year.

I'm very curious to see if this Gaza - Israel war is the tipping point for a majority of Arab / Muslim voters to go Republican. I'll be watching NJ and MI returns.

I know someone is undoubtedly whispering in Trump's ear about this. Watch the campaign rhetoric next year, not this year. If Michigan surprises, there is no 2nd Biden term.

...getting them to imagine a world where Africa might have grown into something else isn't gonna happen.

This is basically just warmed-over, Leonard Jeffries-style ethno-nationalism. And it's laughable. It's premised on the perception that the historic difficulties Negroid peoples in sub-Saharan Africa endured, are somehow of a wholly more detrimental and regressive character than those innumerable wars, tyrannies, and assorted sociocultural catastrophes that the peoples of Europe and Asia endured during the development of their various lands.

Things were tough all over; Black suffering isn't unique, or unprecedented. But their lack of achievement is so evident, that even you decry it...while implying it's someone else's fault.

There's a reason they put the Afro-Futurism books over there in the fiction section. Everyone is aware of the data about what happens when you administer I.Q. tests in sub-Saharan Africa, and how those results compare to those of various other peoples. The median IQ for Bantus is in the low 80s, for crying out loud. It's no great mystery what has been going on. It's just considered gauche to say it out loud. But everyone knows. You know it too.

IndyGeorgia: Make sure to add links to endorsements so users of the site can check and verify if they so choose.

They are all from the candidate websites. Adding the same link to each one would make this even more tedious and those sites will go away eventually anyway.

At 91.55% in, and a 5 point difference, called for Erdogan. Turks to endure a lifespan of one-party/one-person rule, just the way they like it, it appears. Ask Turkic neighbors Turkmenistan and the other bordering 'stans and laurels' how this feels?

CA Pol Junkie: Alot of Democrats don't want Biden to run again because of his age and that shows up in his polling. He will end up getting most of those votes in the primaries when there is little alternative and he will get all of their votes in the general.

Dems dont want him and most Dem voters wil say publicly they don't. But they increasingly show they will choose the path of least resistance in regards to elections. So unless Bernie, Kamala, or Newsom enter; Biden gets defacto support like last time

RP: It's amazing how this all just retreads the anti-gay arguments from a few decades ago that most people have gotten over.

Actually I think this is quite different then "gay panic" if that's what you are implying. Guys don't care where they go. Most of the contention on this issue is coming from women, girls, and children.

And society seriously oversexualizes gays and trans people. The vast majority just want to pee, not perv on people in the bathroom.

I don't think it's fear of pervs thats generating concern or anything to do with sex. Most young women are extremely sensitive about their bodies and this is an issue about respecting them in a very private space.

While most of the debate has been respectful here, I just feel calling people dense or dumb for their beliefs is overly aggressive and non-productive. And what started this whole thing for me - the use of the word genocide - seems like political hyperbole to advance an agenda. I'll stand by that it is an extreme misuse of the term.

CA Pol Junkie:
Obviously, some people think transgender people are icky and are uncomfortable sharing a bathroom with them but since there is no actual safety issue is it proper to use public policy to enforce animus against transgender people?

Sure. Agreed. We won't be able to make the people who think its icky happy.

Still doesn't negate there are young women, children, and adult women who aren't comfortable with sharing a very private space with transgenders who do not have the same biological anatomy.

E Pluribus Unum: I'm not agreeing to disagree on an issue of human rights and Life/Death.

If you are unwilling to learn about the issue that's on you. In an age of information, stupidity is a choice.

And there you have it. The extreme left in a nut shell. Agree with me, or you are stupid.

Without acknowledging there could be other solutions, without acknowledging others feelings, without acknowledging there are other stakeholders in the outcomes of your proposed solutions.

The only feelings that count are your feelings. The rest of us are dumb and our views / feelings don't count.

Down vote me if you want, but protest outside then. And this includes protesters not protesting inside the legislative chamber.

The chamber is for debate - even if it gets heated. Not for protests.

This goes for the left and the right on issues.

These self-righteous grandstanders behave as if it's obvious that passing a lot of strict gun "control"/ban legislation would somehow make our society a relatively more tranquil place.

But of course, that's not obvious at all.

Why anyone would desire to install as Speaker a neocon cypher who wants to take us into a potentially strategic nuclear conflict over a Russo-Ukranian border dispute, well, that's a little more difficult to understand.

CA Pol Junkie: I would actually like to see someone try to defend the current system for reasons other than "my party can't win the support of a plurality of voters right now".

Our founding fathers created the electoral college for the very circumstances we are in right now.

We purposefully designed our democracy to not have a popularly elected President even if that is what has happened most times. The electoral college was designed to prevent large states from over-influencing the federal government. And its doing that.

I would contend that the circumstances we are in now and in seven of the last eight presidential elections are precisely why the system is working. The union is kept together, especially now, by having the electoral college. One culture does not dominate.

As much as we like to think we are a homogeneous country or even a two party country, there is a lot of evidence to suggest we aren't. We only need to point to history to see we are a nation of peoples with entirely different cultures. I've come to realize this living in Colorado, New Mexico, and California over the last six months. Sure there are many things we commonly enjoy, but there are subtle to stark differences.

The electoral college prevents one culture or one nation of people dominating the others.

Here are couple of interesting books that shed some light on our different cultural pasts.

American Nations: A History of the Eleven Rival Regional Cultures of North America
[Link] (summary article)
[Link] (Goodreads Book Link)

Albion's Seed: Four British Folkways in America
[Link] (Goodreads Book Link)

Understanding the history of our differences as a people is very relevant to how different regions of America have developed their cultures and laws. These cultures and laws persist today defining what we are experiencing where we live today.

Puritan law does influence the nature of today's New England culture. Ben Frankin and the Quakers have had a tremendous influence on the mid-Atlantic states. The Spanish in the west. The French in Louisiana. There is a good list and the American Nations book covers someof those cultures.

If its fair criticism that Republicans have not had a majority of the vote in seven of the last eight elections, its also fair criticism to say that Democrats are losing support outside the cities and coasts.

I'm not saying the system is perfect, but the electoral college does insure that the winning candidate has the popular support in most American States. And in the end this insures that the cultures of our many nations and people are balanced even when sometimes it doesn't seem like it is.

If he actually cared about the planet more than his vanity there is alot of good he could do with his money (or even $44 billion of it).

Maybe the people who just received that $44 billion from Musk could now use it for the good of the planet?
Oh, but that angle doesn't serve the cause of trying to keep online speech regulated, so I guess I needn't have mentioned it.

Meanwhile, it's pretty obvious that under the federal Constitutional system that you guys are all supposed to revere, the 1973 Roe versus Wade decision was essentially based on...nothing at all. There's no text in the Constitution to suggest states can't regulate (or ban altogether) the practice of abortion.

Perhaps banning abortion is a stupid and/or unjust idea...but it's not unConstitutional. If you disagree, please feel free to cite that portion of the text of the Constitution which indicates support for your position.

Meanwhile....

“[Macron] is the most hated politician in the history of France. He isn’t viewed as a champion of the Left, but rather as a puppet of the banking elite. The fact that he literally worked for the Rothschild bank in France, and made a name for himself by brokering Nestlé’s acquisition of Pfizer’s baby food division made this the case from the very beginning, and his policies while in office only reinforced this perception.

“The post election riots in France may dissipate temporarily but with evidence of election fraud hanging over Macron as the food and energy crisis begins, revolution isn’t just possible, it’s probable. Separatist movements in Corsica, and various overseas territories will accelerate this, and fighters from all over the world will participate. Expect Italy to destabilize in parallel, and it is at this critical moment that the insane quantities of weapons that are disappearing in Ukraine will become very, very important (as will the various neo-nazi terrorist groups that the CIA and Mossad have been cultivating throughout western Europe).

Watching this Ukrainian woman on TV explain why we must go to war for her country, while she holds a seat in our Congress, is pretty horrific.

Or do you guys all think going to war with Russia would be some kind of swell idea?

You do know we'd lose any war with Russia that was waged on the Russian border, right?
Because we totally would.

I love all the bs u keep putting in my mouth that were never stated at all.

This bill has literally already been negotiated down from the amount it needed to be, the "All" you think I am advocating for has disappeared. This Bill is already a concession, snd Manchin wants it to be a concession of a concession.

This isn't even anything that is that massive, this is the agenda that was the SOLE REASON BIDEN WON. And Manchin/Sinema literally want to tank the one thing that will 100% make or break the Dems chances in 2022. They are the modern day Byrd/McCarran

E Pluribus Unum: This is a hail mary pass to hold on to any relevancy, why would he voluntarily give up all the power he has now and just become another Republican? The article literally says he planned to do this early in the week but "Changed his mind", if he wanted to do it, he would have done it already

This is literally just a last ditch effort to get 267 Dems to all of a sudden go "Well ok let us do less than ever before".

I could care less as Manchin and Sinema are essentially Republicans already

I mean, I wish they were republicans. That reckless covid bill that they helped pass at the beginning of the Biden presidency and the confirmation of people like Xavier Becerra would have been thwarted.

How in the world is this a take at all? I can think of a number of black conservatives who are quite prominent who don’t have allegations of verbal abuse or threatening behavior against them. Larry Elder

I'm sorry, but are you a dotard? The media in California is saying exactly these sorts of things about Larry Elder right now.
