i'm going to engage in this conversation once and only once.

i speak as a trans person who has been openly trans now for 10 years. what we are seeing, in Florida especially, with the bathroom bills and culturally with trans people writ large being labeled predators and groomers and the incitement of violence and everything in between is absolutely part of a genocide against trans people. there are trans people fleeing states and the country because of the persecution, legal and extralegal, they fear they would face. i have never felt so unsafe as a trans woman.

to say what we are experiencing as a community is not genocide is to spit in our faces and tell us "it's not that bad, stop exaggerating."

there are states where we are barred from receiving necessary medication, from literally pissing in an appropriate public restroom. we are forbidden to discuss our own identity in certain public places.

you tell me what that sounds like.

Yes, I too hate that we can just go willy-nilly on maps that will last us a decade and potentially dilute the votes of marginalized people (sarcasm)

The Governor appoints the replacement a la Recess Appointment iirc. The Legislature may act on it when it comes into session in 2022, but that year there will be a special to fill the last two years in office.

All speculative candidates as reported by Crosscut. Also reported that Podlodowski was not interested, and that Tarleton was actively pursuing the appointment, hence the change from Speculative to Running.

You can divide up your vouchers, too.

I gave all four of mine to Nicole Thomas-Kennedy (City Attorney's race), but some I know give any combination of theirs to different candidates.

Seattle also has fundraising caps, and if a campaign reaches those, they cannot accept DVs any more.

Campaigns can apply to have that cap removed. Houston did because Harrell allies set up a PAC just for him, to circumvent the campaign finance laws, and now others are applying to get released from the cap.

Each Seattle resident (including those not registered to vote & green card holders) gets 4x $25 vouchers funded by the City to assign to a campaign for City Council, City Attorney, or Mayor. Eligible campaigns must sign financial pledges & have a certain number of signatures in support of their participation in the program to even start accepting vouchers.

You don't have to use your vouchers in the Primary per se, it's just statistically more useful to campaigns that way.

Campaigns can use that Voucher money just as they would any other financial contribution. There's no real expiry date or restrictions except for standard campaign finance law.

Harrell had been on the council since 2002, and President for a decent amount of time.

Very. He's the favorite of the moderate crowd.

It's going to be very close if it ends up being Harrell vs Gonzalez, but I feel like Harrell beats Echohawk in a General Election.

In the demographics section, could we please get rid of the "ed" at the end of "transgendered"; it's now a relatively antiquated term. By-and-large the preferred term is just "transgender", or "trans" for short.
