RBH: the new maps (Congress, State Senate, State House, and the first new State Supreme Court map since the 90s) are all entered

So great. I'm going to be doing endorsement research over the next few days, so I should be able to upload a good number of primary candidates. Has the SoS certified the filings yet?

I'm also pretty shocked PPP hasn't been in the field here yet. This is squarely in their wheelhouse.

This is becoming a bummer for Wiley Nickel, who's a good young candidate that was (I think) one of the first in the pool.

North Carolina has a rich history of homespun celebrities being deeply involved in politics. I mean, is this any stranger than Secretary of State candidate Richard Petty?

Fierro's lawsuit seems like a pretty big misfire, not necessarily electorally, but legally.

Hard to see Dominguez/Lamantia ending up as a progressive/moderate proxy fight after seeing that list of legislators that abandoned their colleague.

Having a tough time finding some daylight here in doing my primary endorsement research. If anyone on the ground in Texas on the Democratic side of things has any insight, I'd love to hear it.

I think it's also that he joins a long list of politicians who have a "moment" but then don't realize how short people's attention spans are and how little that "moment" resonates with people who aren't engaged 24/7.

See: James, Tish; O'Rourke, Beto

My Congressman is a Weiner: Crappy humanity is crappy politics.

Man, I wish.

DylanSH99: More like Joe Manchin making a strong late-year push.

Yeah, but a) What Manchin's doing isn't crappy politics. It's crappy HUMANITY, but it's not crappy politics; and b) Biden ran a campaign - especially his primary message - on the idea that he had a bunch of GOP friends in his back pocket.

I'm not sure if this is still the CW in the state, it's been a while since I worked there, but there's also a stigma about candidates from the Charlotte area and their ability to win statewide.

LEAPForward: Jackson is suffering a somewhat unfair "once bitten, twice shy" situation with Cunningham (full disclosure - I worked with him and his now-wife many years ago on a Senate campaign). Jackson's a real one, but Democrats have been burned with candidates perceived as dry white toast, not only with Cal but not McAuliffe. The loss in VA was practically an in-kind contribution for candidates like Beasley.

*NOW McAuliffe

No details on methodology, etc. on this, but a Kemp internal has him up 54-22 on Perdue, Jones at 12.

But as the saying goes, it's not what the internal shows, it's the fact you had to release it... and if that's not a saying, I'm claiming it.

I really don't understand why Walz was never given the national profile some other state-level Democrats got. Minnesota's a blue state, but it's upper Midwest and he makes it look easier than it should be.

It just never made sense. She made up her mind to run when she was a legitimate alternative - both ideologically and, uh... morally? - to Cuomo. There were things you could say "she would do _____ and he wouldn't."

That doesn't exist with her and Hochul.

50% approval and a two point lead in a GOP pollster's internal for a GOP candidate is a result I'm fairly certain Hassan will take.

"Curtis Sliwa got only 70,000 fewer votes than Joe Manchin got last time he ran for Senate" is one of my favorite statistics ever.

It's interesting... I actually thought when Andrew Yang did his "anyone who donates to me during this debate will be entered into a raffle" thing during the Dem primary was treading pretty close to a campaign finance line, but equating campaign promises and bribery is a tough look.
