BrentinCO: Supposedly Grassley's great grandson or something like that announced that Grassley would be running again.

Even so, this seems ripe for a challenge or new Republican senator.

Chuck Grassley's great grandson is probably old enough to have dementia.

I really doubt Grassley is running again, but our President is practically a stand-in for Constantine Chernenko, so I guess anything's possible now.

I'm getting "Run for reelection, resign, get the Governor to appoint Speaker Grassley" vibes.

Honestly, this will just fuel more cynicism in the Trump Republican Party about establishment Republicans. I can't see this scenario being anything but a short lived victory for Speaker Grassley.

If you think of 6 years as short term.

Wouldn't he need to run in a special election in 2 years or less? Or is Iowa law different?
