Raffensberger is done. I think whoever runs against him will win.

Which is such a shame when the only thing he did "wrong" was do his job, investigate where needed, and report there was in fact minimal to no fraud, and especially not at the level claimed by Trump

Oh I totally agree. He did his job and it's a shame. But the majority of the GOP has been taken over by complete whackjobs.

Campari_007: ...the majority of the GOP has been taken over by complete whackjobs.

Not a majority. A significant percentage.

Remember Reagan through out the Birchers from the Republican party.

Republican leadership needs to look to this example. I still believe there are enough good honest Republicans who can save this party.

The Republican Party is infested with a small percentage of noticeable flag waving neo confederates, anti-Semites, white nationalists maggots, and those who want to tear our union apart - egged on by opportunistic fist-pumping duplicitous players and "family" members with the individual consciences of cheap gutter whores. Appealing to these disenfranchised groups by giving them power in exchange for popular support and an exaggerated bully yell. Invited in and empowered by Donald Trump, they are rotting the party like bacteria that kills its host by slowly decomposing and weakening the vital organs.

Kick them out like Reagan did to the Birchers. With Trump leaving, time to cleanse the party.

I'm not quite sure what the future holds for the Republican party. The lines are drawn between the Trumpists and traditional Republicans. We may see which side wins in places like Virginia, New Jersey, Georgia and Ohio in the coming years where important primaries will be taking place.

Maybe there are enough Republican Senators who recognize how far we have gone from our core principles to put the dagger in the Trump movement during the impeachment trial to cleanse the party of this rot like Jesus Christ cleansed the Temple of money changers, livestock, and merchants. The analogy is very legit. Consider how holy the Temple is to G*d the Father and consider how sacred our democratic temples are to our collective American values. Consider how the invaders have polluted and perverted both.

I can only hope there will be a conscience of at least 17 or 18 Republican Senators who cleanse the party during the Impeachment trial. It will only be a start, but it will be important for true Republicans to stand-up and make a strong statement that Trump has desecrated this country and our party.

Or this party will die from cancer of conspriacy believin' fascists.

I am believer in history repeating itself. There has never been a case of a successful personality cult. They all end, and usually with very tragic final chapters. The only question is how long will it take and how much damage will it do to our Republic before the closing chapter. This one is a very weak personality cult falling short on achieving what other charismatic movements have achieved -- the fragile ego of the leader exposed early -- even if it has had some very notable and tragic destruction. Perhaps the fact that the charismatic leader's threats of violence are beginning to be less effective is sign that this movement is expiring and coming to an end.
