Description |
Jon Bramnick had hoped that he would get appointed to the state senate in January 2021, however when Tom Kean narrowly lost his bid for Congress against Tom Malinowski, Bramnick had to wait.
After Kean's lost, he immediately began to mull another run in 2022. He decided to not seek re-election so he could easily seek a seat in Congress. Jon Bramnick was immediately the favorite for the seat after surprisingly winning re-election in 2019. Democrats united behind Roselle Park Mayor Joe Signorello to take on the likeable Bramnick.
Signorello seems to be a poor recruit for the democrats and Bramnick is in a good spot in a district that has trended left in recent years. A Bramnick loss isn't impossible , he is despised by democrats for the political alliance he forged with Chris Christie. On the other side Bramnick isn't admired by his own party due to his sharp critiques of former President Donald Trump, and the fact Governor Phil Murphy is a frequent guest to his home.
